Covid-19: Cabo Verde Airlines suspends all transport activity.

Cabo Verde Airlines (CVA) will temporarily suspend all transport activities from Wednesday, for at least 30 days, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the airline announced today.

In a statement sent to Lusa, the company, led since March 2019 by Icelandair, justifies the decision as a "consequence of the progressive spread of the pandemic" of Covid-19, caused by a new coronavirus, to more than 150 countries, most of which "They have already imposed temporary travel bans, forcing airlines to suspend their activities."

“Cabo Verde Airlines informs that, in view of the referred situation, and taking into account that the restrictions on travel restrictions include all the routes of the company, it will temporarily suspend all its transport activities from 03/18-2020 for one period of at least 30 days ”, the company said in a statement.

The decision comes after the Prime Minister, Ulisses Correia e Silva, today announced the suspension, for at least three weeks, of flights from Portugal, Brazil, the United States and Senegal - besides Nigeria -, countries affected by the Covid pandemic. -19, with effect from Wednesday.

These four destinations were also the last routes that the CVA was still providing, after progressively, over the past few weeks, having cut regular flights to Washington (United States, maintaining Boston), Lagos (Nigeria), Lisbon (Portugal, from the Praia, maintaining the flight from the island of Sal), and Salvador da Bahia and Porto Alegre (Brazil, maintaining flights to Fortaleza and Recife).

Before that, the CVA also did not fly to Rome and Milan, due to the government's ban on flights from Italy.
